Strangely, I began this piece as a background for another painting. The sunrise itself came together so gorgeously that I decided it should be its own focal point. Sometimes the subject IS the place, and this sparkling, glittering place in my mind is definitely its own. I hope the texture and color and pattern are as satisfying to the viewer as they were for me as I was painting them. The onset of a new day, full of light and possibility, is the gift I hope to share with the world. There is joy here to be had. Its the place I prefer to live, on that precipice of beginning. I only hope that the contrary pairing of contentment and anticipation can be felt by the observer of this painting.
